Simon Mignol is no stranger to airports and its strange lulls and rhythms. While flying does have its perks, the French photographer constantly finds himself in airport terminal limbo, in the company of fellow voyagers desperate for a few minutes of shuteye on hard, uncomfortable waiting room chairs.

His series Le Dormeur du Terminal 2 (The Sleeping Voyager of Terminal 2) is a collection of people dozing off in Paris’ Charles de Gaulle terminal. The subject could potentially be off-putting — surely there is no classy way of sleeping in public? — but Mignol pulls it off beautifully, capturing faces and forms angled artfully against the soft glow of sunrises and sunsets. It just goes to show that if the will to sleep is there, one finds a way — even in the most impersonal of places such as an airport.
