Classic artworks as furry tableaus, objects that defy gravity, and statues that spontaneously sprout flowers — these are just some of the creations of Turkish artist Murat Yildirim, rendered in the most hypnotic, engaging fashion. Presented as pictorial compositions or short animations, the Turkish art director connects common objects with extraordinary situations that take on a surreal, poetic quality.
Mixing illustration, digital art and 3D animation, Yildirim’s works explore architecture, landscapes and still life, laid out in a clean and minimal aesthetic. And though his oeuvres portray capricious and wildly whimsical ideas, there is a purposefulness to each element he uses; a discreet display of his command and understanding of composition, color, texture and context.
