India Mahdavi’s interior design is pastel, velveteen perfection

Described as the ‘queen of color’, Parisian architect and interior designer India Mahdavi knows all there is to know about creating a palette scheme that pops. Her most recognizable work is in the luxurious Mayfair restaurant Sketch, in which she let her pastels loose to shade the place in such whimsical warmth you want to attempt to climb into the walls.

Attributing her love of color to her Iranian-Egyptian heritage, her use of bubblegum pink in both Sketch and the London boutique RED Valentino, has made the shade something of a signature color. Go bold or go home is her mantra and the popping, pastel perfection she brings to spaces is a convincing argument to follow. Add a large dash of velvet and the deal is sealed for us as her interiors become art.
