Littered with satire and glazed with absurd pop culture references, the work of contemporary artist Eric Yahnker is difficult to label. Playing with politicized messages as much as simple humorous imagery, Yahnker’s work speaks to a time when truth is no longer truth, and fiction is the new fact. Calling himself a “Glorified Political Cartoonist”, the Los Angeles based artist has reimagined the political and pop culture landscape and added a little creepiness to the mix.
From his reworking of Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye featuring everyone’s favorite vulgar Trumpism to a fantasy movie-poster-Obama complete with dreamy sunset, the images are more than fun – there’s a salient message lurking in there too.
