There are plenty of ways to connect using technology in this modern world but had graffiti artists Don’t Fret and Edwin kept their Whatsapp conversations private, we would never have seen their political discourse spelled out across city streets.
Hailing from London (Edwin) and Chicago (Don’t Fret), the pair have been using highlights of their Whatsapp chats to open up their conversation to their respective cities, conversing with each other in the process. Dissecting their politically conscious discourse and putting it on walls, fences, protest placards and billboards, the two struck up a pen pal relationship that spanned the Atlantic. The project can be seen its entirety in their new book entitled The Distinct Sound of Someone Laughing in the Distance. Â
