There’s nothing that gets our adrenaline going more than a beautiful home makeover, and the restoration of Chemin Barn, which used to hold horses in the French countryside of Notre Dame de Bliquetuit, makes us all kinds of happy. Converted into a residence with all of today’s modern conveniences, architect Antonin Ziegler maintained the rustic, rural charm of the 217 square meter (2336 sq.ft) space by preserving aspects of its original structure.
Posts and beams were retained, as well as its timber framework. Windows along the facade lets light in from all sides, also providing views of the surrounding river and landscape. The mezzanine where hay was previously stored was converted into bedrooms, turning the ground level into a vast open living space. And for a touch of indulgence, a swim spa was built in the northern end of the home.
