Ying Yin is a Shanghai-based photographer whose works span genres of landscape, documentary, still life and portraiture. Through her inquisitive compositions, she conveys narratives in the most engaging way, unearthing substance and sense from subjects that normally wouldn’t merit a second glance.
An avid fan of Japanese architect Tadao Ando, Yin has been documenting his works and designs since 2017. Below are snippets from her compilation, including his well-known Hill of the Buddha statue in Japan, the Awaji Yumebutai complex in Awaji Island, a small six-room hotel in Naoshima, Shanghai’s Poly Grand Theatre and the Osaka Prefectural Chikatsu Asuka Museum, among others. Ando’s architectural creations are as photogenic as it gets, and they shine brilliantly through Yin’s keen eye for framing and composition.
Yin’s previous works include her documentation of a snowy journey from Sapporo to the coast of the Okhotsk Sea, and compilations of her random travels through New York, Iran, Italy and more. Discover more on her Behance and Instagram accounts.
