With the release of designer Craig Green’s latest collection for the Moncler Genius line, we were jolted to remember one of 2019’s most memorable fashion moments, that time Valentino’s Pierpaolo Piccioli transformed the Moncler puffer coat into a range of evening gowns fit for a Renaissance ballroom. Taking outerwear to a different place entirely, Pierpaolo Piccioli enhanced the naturally voluminous nature of the down material to create dramatic, sculpted silhouettes with a firm avant-garde aesthetic, which she launched at last year’s Milan fashion Week. Created in collaboration with the model Liya Kebede, the gowns injected a colourful, creative direction to the art of couture.
So, there it is… the solution to the age old question of whether or not to take a coat along to the ball is to simply invest in a couture down gown. Elegant, eccentric… and warm.
