When you have the dual challenge of building a contemporary new home while at the same time preserving the sight lines of its neighboring 19th century structure, innovation is the name of the game. And things don’t come more innovative than Barcelona-based architects PMMT’s new building. Located at the foot of Tibidabo Mountain, the project needed to integrate itself into the surrounding landscape, so naturally, the designers decided to dress the sparkling, iridescent block in a ceramic camouflage cloak.
Covered in a range of green tiles that mesh with the foliage, the partially submerged hillside house offers the pleasantly confusing effect of appearing slightly see-through.
