Deen takes us to various studios and workshops throughout the US, capturing hands going about their craft, from typsetters to cobblers, butchers to florists. Paired with thoughtful composition and clever use of light, he masterfully conveys both the work and the work ethic involved — the beauty of creating with our hands, and how lives around the world are more similar than we think.
“I want to capture the individuality, yet connectedness between individuals throughout the world,” he says. “Work throughout the world looks very different, yet is all looks the same.”
Deen, who hails from Islamabad and currently resides in Ohio, plans to take his project global, and later publish his collection into a book. Having recently won a 2nd Place National Award in the 2017 Sony World Photography Awards, Deen is definitely one to keep an eye out for. Discover his work on his website and Facebook.
