We stumbled upon the works of Philipp Igumnov, and there’s certainly no lack of inspiration in the collages of this young Moscow-based artist.
Originally wanting to make his collages photo-realistic, it became apparent to him that he could create something cooler. And guess what… they really are cooler. Themes of space, flying, astronauts, galaxies and blackholes are prevalent in his art. Hunting for images over the internet, he pieces them together to form a vision of the future in retro: faded and fantastical, whimsical and grainy. Aside from his fascination with old postcards and science fiction, Igumnov’s art is influenced by music: in his blog, his artworks are accompanied by music, from quiet piano solos to spacey and atmospheric tunes that go unbelievably well with each image.
