As a daughter of a composer, Italian photographer Cristina Coral grew up with a strong inclination towards art and music from the very beginning. Entirely self-taught, Coral chose the camera as her medium of artistic expression, turning photography into her imperative language.
In her series The Other Part of Me, Coral ponders on how much of ourselves we allow others to see. It’s easy to see Coral’s answer to the question of revelation: her portraits are wistful and guarded, revealing only an extended arm or her flowing hair; mirrors and curtains are a recurring prop in her photos. Says Coral, “This project comes from some reflections on the dichotomy between good and evil, and about the dichotomy between realism and idealism.” Her other works are as hauntingly beautiful as this series – visit her website for more.
