We’re as fond of our bike as the next guy, which is why we love the idea of tucking up our steed in this Norwegian Bicycle Hotel. Nobody likes to leave their bike locked up and unloved, and in a place like Norway where cycle travel is ubiquitous, the idea to devise a safe, warm place for resting bicycles seemed a no-brainer.
Located in the town of Lillestrom, the main train station now has its own bicycle hotel, where commuting riders can leave their bikes safe and sound. The biggest of its kind in Norway, the hotel was commissioned by Norwegian National Railways and designed by Oslo firm, Various Architects. Sleeping 400 bikes at a time, parking spots are reached by ramps where bikes are stacked one on top of the other. A useful idea that encourages further bike use, the bike hotel is a system found across Norway. Best of all, customers only pay a tiny monthly fee for this ‘suite’ deal!
