With a small social area, kitchen and a small bedroom on the second floor, the owners of La Cabañita sought help from Paz Arquitectura to create an extension to their charming little cabin on the outskirts of Guatemala City.

Two new spaces were built on either side of the original cabin and were connected by platforms linking to each other on the outside, allowing people to enter and exit from various areas of the house and flow into the space in a spontaneous way. The rooftops of the two modules face the opposite direction of the original structure, giving the home a new, dynamic identity. While respecting the look and feel of the original cabin, the studio added tweaks and features that gave it a more contemporary touch.
