Despite elevating cut flowers into intricate artworks that often bely their original form, Harriet Parry views herself as a florist at heart. Producing visual artworks that prize detail, composition, and texture, Parry echoes the traits that inherently belong to flowers. Combining her love of nature with a background in fine art, she has developed an approach to floristry and art that has led to commercial commissions for adverts, TV, film, and editorial, while leaving time to explore her own side projects.
In her ongoing series, Flower Interpretations, Parry uses flowers alongside props to mimic famous artworks and imagery. Some works offer a literal approach to reflecting a picture, while others take a looser, more abstract path, with both rich in the detail, texture, color, and composition at the heart of her process.
