Erik Witsoe is a Seattle photographer based in Warsaw, Poland. Having spent seven years living in the Polish city of Poznan, Witsoe developed a love affair with the place. Based in the district of Jezyace, throughout his time in the city he would walk the streets, “drinking coffee, buying goods, and photographing daily life and simple moments” that moved him. This series is a selection of images shot between 2011 and 2017 and displays Witsoe’s rich, cinematic style (that he reveals is, unsurprisingly, inspired by cinema).
Shooting Poznan through the seasons, the series is a love letter to the city, with romantic notions running through compositions of lonely squares, blossoming trees, golden sunsets, and snow. See more of his work on his website and Instagram, and check out his tribute to Poznan summers here.
