We love books and we also love cats, and so it stands to reason that we’ve found our new favorite bookshelf. Designed by BFDO Architects in a Brooklyn townhouse for a poet and professor with a huge love of books and cats, the cat-friendly bookcase is the standout part of the property that the firm littered (get it!) with various nooks and runs to appeal to felines.
Starting at the front of the property and running through the home, the custom bookcase clings to the wall, supporting books, which provide the ramp for the cats to enjoy. In addition to the bookcase run, trapdoors at either end of the apartment provide cat access to the upper rooms in what might be the sweetest architectural flourish we’ve ever heard.
