Close to Tulum’s white-sanded beaches and the natural crystalline sinkholes known as cenotes, Casa Aviv is perfectly situated as a holiday rental getaway. CO-LAB Design Office designed the dwelling with such architectural elegance, from its materiality to aesthetic.Â
Casa Aviv is composed of two volumes that insert themselves into the landscape with a minimum disturbance to its natural surroundings. The taller of the two acts accommodates the private quarters, unveiling four bedrooms across two levels and a rooftop terrace with a 360-degree view of the property. The slightly shorter one is dedicated to the social areas, airy and convivial with its double-height volumes and impressive floor-to-ceiling pivoting glass doors that open up to the pool area and gardens. Large windows and openings usher natural light and cross winds into the space, while north-oriented clerestory windows illuminate the second floor corridor that hovers above the kitchen area.
Inside is a minimalist canvas of polished cement and terrazzo floors, their muted tones interrupted by charred cedar wood elements that lend a touch of warmth to the space. Bespoke furniture pieces, textiles and lighting fixtures make up the functional and decorative elements of the space. All of these components come together to create a compelling, refined architecture whose subdued beauty speaks volumes.
