The striking Brick Cave house in Dong Anh, a suburban commune in Vietnam, stands out from its neighbors with its unusual geometric shape and dominating brick facade. Vietnamese architecture studio H&P Architects arranged the 190 square meter property (2045 square feet) to include intersecting brick walls, pockets of space for plants and trees, open patches on the roof and pathways that resemble alleys. The crowning glory, in our opinion, is the lush rooftop garden.
Speaking more about the construction, the architects say, “The Brick Cave encompasses a chain of space interconnected with one another with random apertures gradually shifting from openness/publicity to closeness/privacy and vice versa. The combination of ‘close’ and ‘open’ creates diverse relations with the surroundings and thus helps blur the boundaries between in and out, houses and streets, humans and nature.”
