LensCulture’s fifth annual Portrait Awards 2018 has come to an end, yielding an award-winning collection of contemporary portraiture from around the world by outstanding photographers from five continents.
The first place for the Series category went to Robin de Puy’s portraits of Randy, a little boy in Nevada with whom she had struck an unlikely friendship with. Adam Ferguson won second place for his stirring portraits of Boko Haram survivors, while Bruce Polin came in at third place for his ongoing series of Prospect Park portraiture, shot with a large-format 8×10 camera.
In the Single Image category, Kremer Johnson (previously featured) wins the first place for his photograph of the Bass family: a Jesus-loving couple living with their granddaughter, while Peter Zelewski (previously featured) comes in second with his portrait of twin brothers Duke and Joe. Juul Kraijer’s portrait of a young French woman took third place.
The winning images, along with the contest finalists and jurors’ picks, will be shown at Photo London in May, and at Les Rencontres d’Arles photo festival this July.
