For her site-specific art installation Revision, Iranian conceptual performance artist Shirin Abedinirad assembles a ziggurat-shaped monument of retro television sets on the grassy strip of land at the mouth of Australia’s Erskine River. The project, whose theme revolves around reflection, revelation, illusion and truth, use the mirrored screens of the tv sets to reflect the landscape and people in its vicinity.
Abedinirad studied painting, graphic design and fashion design before exploring the world of conceptual art. Speaking of the project, she says, “This project invites audiences to watch nature in a new frame. Instead of watching TV news, which we do not know if it is true or not, we could break the waves that televisions create and watch reality and nature instead. This installation creates a live movie through the simple reflection of everyone and everything around it.” More on her website and Instagram.
