A Paris Museum Celebrates the Iconic 20th Century Photography of Robert Doisneau

A key contemporary of Henri Cartier-Bretton, a leader of European photojournalism and one of the 20th century’s most important photographers, Robert Doisneau was an artist whose lens primarily focused on the streets – often in his native Paris. Working at a time when Paris was the hip, happening center of a buzzing music scene that attracted artists from across the world, if there was a party, a performance or an impromptu street happening, Doisneau was invariably there to shoot it. Celebrating his connection with the musicians who either passed through Paris or called the city home, a new exhibition is currently on display at Cite de la Musique in Paris, where famous images of the likes of Eartha Kitt, Juliette Greco, and Les Rita Mitsouko span 40 years of work.

Entitled Doisneau et la Musique, the show runs until 29 April and features over 200 photographs from the artist’s oeuvre.
