As a visual effects artist and photographer, Munich-based Jens Moiré has an impressive portfolio of dynamic videos and cutting-edge fashion shoots. But he takes a gentler, slower pace in his travel photography, particularly in his series Lost Places.
While traveling around Japan, Moiré discovered a number of abandoned hotels on an island, deserted for its lack of tourism. The first hotel was abandoned in the 90s, its kitchen still equipped with dishes, and rooms stocked with old game consoles. The second ocean-front hotel was more luxurious, with marble floors and a grand piano, overrun with plants. Haunting and mysterious, Moiré’s images explore another side of Japan.
