At first glance, these architectural blueprints and  scientific diagrams look nothing out of the ordinary, but closer inspection reveals wonderful details drawn on by Swiss artist Lionel Favre. He covers industrial documents, wiring diagrams, mechanical parts construction plans or blueprints with spontaneous narrative scribbles of humorous characters and scenes, reinventing something rigid and serious into exciting works of art. His whimsical drawings invade not only paper, but also our imaginations, taking us back to the cheekiness of passing notes in class or scribbling on book margins.

Favre is a lecturer at the School of Interior Design Atelier Hermès in Geneva. Head over to his website to zoom in on the wonderful details of his drawings.

Favre’s exhibit, Office of the Forgotten Dreams, will be showing at the Mario Mauroner gallery in Vienna from 11 November to 23 December 2017.
