The Iconic Paris Ritz Hotel is Auctioning Off Old Furniture – And You Can Own A Piece

In the midst of remodelling the apartment? Well, hold off on that West Elm purchase and have look at auction house Artcurial, focusing in particular on its upcoming sale of furniture and ‘objets d’art’ on behalf of the Ritz Hotel Paris. Having closed for a full-scale renovation that lasted four years, the famous hotel reopened to years ago, ditching over a century’s worth of furnishings in the process. Rather than let the collection go to waste, the hotel is set to auction a range of over 3,500 pieces in the Ritz sale which runs from April 17-21.

From service panels (that presumably don’t come with accompanying butler, alas) to vintage gowns, sofas to bar stools and even an old barber’s chair, the sale is the chance for average Joe’s everywhere – provided they’ve got the odd 800 Euros to drop on a Louis XV armchair – to own a piece of history.
