Taking inspiration from the listening bars of Japan, Spiritland is the place to go to relive the Tokyo experience in London. Designed by architecture studio Fraher and Findlay, the bar in the Kings Cross enclave of Coal Drops Yard shares many of the interior stylings of world famous Tokyo bars like Martha and JBS, going all in on the wood panelling, exposed industrial elements, and glowing neon lights that seem de rigeur for listening bars. Custom joinery throughout the space provides the room with a framework to display books, records, drinks, and other ephemera in a harmonious fashion that makes the disparate collection of ‘things’ feel like they all belong together.

Aside from the look of the bar, café, and events space, there is the sound to speak of. A high-fidelity experience is promised by the hand-built audio system and a carefully curated musical program. Styled and considered, Spiritland is the type of place we’ve all been looking forward to returning to. More from the architecture studio on their website and Instagram.
