Eat Darling Eat offers its customers an interior whose look and aesthetic matches its sinful dessert menu: colourful, rich and contemporary. This dessert laboratory in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay was designed by Nelson Chow of local architecture studio NC Design & Architecture to represent the restaurant’s modern and whimsical take on traditional Chinese desserts. The dual-level restaurant is dressed in reflective ceilings and vivid optical illusion artworks, for customers to “enjoy a visual sensation while they savour their innovative, experimental desserts.” Chow seamlessly combines concrete walls with bright-colored, candy-inspired furniture which stand out like sculptural totems – a delightful visual accompaniment to the indulgent dessert-sampling experience.
“The design aesthetic is fully immersive, creating an illusory environment with the use of bright geometries and organic shapes,” the studio says. “The result is one-of-a-kind: bold, surreal, and a utopian remedy that enhances the global perspective of popular culture.”
