Photographer Alex Strohl captures the beautiful isolation of off the grid living around the sparse, wild landscape of Iceland with his series, Icelandic Living. Since Iceland stop-overs became the hippest way to break up a transatlantic flight, the country has seen a boom in tourism, which has jolted the joys of the Iceland’s famous ring road (the major highway – otherwise known as Route 1 – that circles the island stopping off at major towns) into the travel community’s consciousness.
Alex Strohl is a Madrid-born, French photographer whose work is characterized by his amazing travels. His client list includes the likes of Forbes, Vanity Fair, and Gentleman’s Journal, whose pages have been graced with the work he creates shooting in some of the world’s most incredible – not to mention remote – locations. In Icelandic Living, Strohl captures the isolation of Iceland’s lone dwellings. Poised on mountains, gazing across fjords, and set firm in glacial landscapes, the homes present a keyhole into the lives of those brave enough to live in them. See more of his work here.
