Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a super-wearable sculpture coat that challenges the traditional norms that govern the contours, shapes and structures of outerwear! Created by designer Craig Green for Italian luxury brand Moncler as part of its Genius Project, these overblown, voluminous shapes provide a directional take on the label’s famous down jacket.
Revealed last year at Milan Fashion Week, the monochrome, sculptural forms use a combination of matte nylon and cotton downs to create overblown forms that create a look somewhere between stylish floatation device and Samurai armour. Explaining the experimental – and wearable – collection, Green says, “I have always explored ideas of protection and functionality within my work, something that is also at the core of Moncler’s heritage.” Keep your eyes on the streets for Craig Green’s inflated Moncler sculptures.
