As vintage consoles go, they don’t come much more iconic than the original Nintendo Entertainment System, which makes LEGO’s buildable version of the model the only gift a vintage gamer needs to reawaken those memories of the halcyon days of 16-bit. In a collaboration with Nintendo, LEGO is set to release a whole pack that recreates the original NES experience, which means console, controller, game cartridge, and retro TV.
Speaking at the launch of the Nintendo and LEGO pack, Maarten Simons, LEGO’s creative lead on the project, said, “Many adults still fondly remember that first time they saw Mario leap across the small screen. We’re letting them truly indulge in that nostalgia, recreating one of the most-loved consoles of all time so they can see the Super Mario from their childhoods once again.” The pack launches in LEGO stores and on the LEGO webstore on August 1, priced at $229.99.
