Seen from afar, Hub of Huts looks like a bunch of cabins reflected on water, which is exactly what noa* Network of Architecture was going for.
The seemingly gravity-defying structure — composed of upright and inverted gabled volumes anchored to a platform — is the newest addition to Hotel Hubertus in South Tyrol. It was designed to complement the architecture studio’s previous contribution to the wellness resort, a glass-bottomed pool, back in 2016.
Suspended 15 meters off the ground, Hub of Huts is oriented toward the mountains, views which guests can drink in from one of the two pools and panoramic shower rooms on the top level. A level down, a foyer leads to two saunas, showers, and a third outdoor pool. Cleverly hidden in the inverted gables are the pool’s water purification systems, a testament to noa*’s instinct for merging form and function.
Earthy tones were used for the building materials and fixtures, referencing the soul-cleansing Alpine landscape.
