Nestled in the serene landscape of Wilcza Poreba, Poland, wilcza for/rest/ are available for those who take their privacy seriously.
Polish firm De.Materia looked towards the historic architecture of wooden mountain shelters for inspiration, using local building materials to make these twin apartments pay homage to the local heritage. The two lower floors are composed of split gneiss hand-formed piece by piece, with a solid stone plinth serving as the base for the much lighter wooden upper floors. The walls are covered with vertical wooden fins, alluding to the traditional wooden gables of the region. While the home is unmistakably modern, the interplay of wood and stone arranged in a natural, almost half-finished manner complements the natural beauty of the surrounding views perfectly.
The interior is kept sparse, with wood and concrete taking up most of the aesthetic, while aptly-positioned windows provide spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.
The resthouse can be rented with no contact from the owner itself – an entry code is provided upon booking, adding to the allure of having a piece of the old country all to yourself. Go ahead and book – we know you’re tempted!
