Constructed to enhance the dialogue between itself, the main house, and the dazzling surrounding nature, this beautiful atelier in Argentina by Agustin Berzero Architects is a picture of tranquil, thoughtful architecture. Built onto a parcel of land beside the client’s existing home, the project focuses on the elements on the site that came before—the home with its slanted roof, the presence of concrete and wood, and the already entrenched interaction with the surrounding greenery.
The atelier is outwardly robust, the structure itself covered with textured concrete enveloping all surfaces in order to offer the illusion of natural stone. Internally, the space is warm, with the concrete softened by the proliferation of bespoke wood elements, which is employed to craft an atmosphere that chimes with the creative work that takes place within. Beautifully placed to take advantage of the presence of the trees, the space orchestrates the interplay of light, air, and materials to craft a “contemplative space for thinking, painting, and working”.
