Converting a central Dublin warehouse unit into a family home and photography studio space, Clancy Moore Architects preserved and enhanced the industrial character and qualities of its existing structure. The central space of Avenue Road is its double height living area, lit from above by four skylights. The rest of the ground floor deviates into various common spaces such as the kitchen, dining room, the office and utility area, all of them fitted with lower ceilings that create a cosier ambiance in contrast to the open space living area.
The second floor contains the bedrooms, and is divided into two wings for the privacy of each: one for the parents and the other for the children, both with their own stairwell access from the living area.
Throughout the home, the studio integrated a series of figurative elements – columns, stairs, screens, pillars and shutters – that communicate light and interaction between spaces and people. More works from the architecture studio here.
