If you’re the type to scoff at the silliness of Halloween costumes and masks, best beware of the ones created by branding studio Godspeed. Their Halloween Masks of Modern Fears encapsulate the greatest fears of these ultra-connected and trying times — and are far more scarier than ghosts, witches, monsters and other fictitious creatures.
The first mask, titled The Fear of Total Pollution, is a colorful geometric bubble that seemingly consumes and smothers one’s face — a preview of what’ll happen if our plastic consumption continues. The totally relatable mask The Fear of Being Offline, with its sharp angles and frazzled vibe, summarizes the anxiety we get when our Wifi signal drops, or when we find ourself in the toilets without our phones. The last mask is becoming quite popular these days: The Fear of Surveillance Cameras. We may have nothing to hide, but it doesn’t mean we like being watched.
