The Lawless Chair by Designer Evan Fay

The Lawless Chair could be in a room filled with chairs, and you can bet it’s going to be a standout. Designed by Evan Fay, it’s one of those designs that ignite our excitement over the possibilities of crossing art and design, of form and function.

There’s definitely a punk, arty aesthetic to it: metal tubes are welded together to form a unique, disjointed shape that’s softened by the blue Neoprene-covered foam strips woven around it. Simultaneously experimental and elegant, this sculptural chair celebrates the “irregularity within a system, pursuing a more artful form that responds to the chaotic landscape within our structured society”.

Fay, known for his intuitive construction methods and willingness to explore irregularity in design, creates his inspiring furniture pieces from his practice/workshop in Detroit, Michigan. Follow his studio’s website and Instagram.
