Embodying the unique aesthetic, values and spirit of traditional craftsmanship the Japanese are known for, WASARA is a collection of sustainable and compostable paper tableware thoughtfully designed to present the food served on them in the most elegant way.
Composed of a series of plates, platters, bowls, tumblers, wine and coffee cups and cutlery, WASARA puts as much importance in its sustainability as it does with aesthetics. As disposable tableware, the company uses tree-free materials – bamboo and bagasse – for their biodegradable, earth-conscious properties: Bamboo grows extremely fast and is readily renewed, while the intrinsic properties of bagasse make it perfect as a paper base. Together they reduce the burden on the environment, and can be produced without fear of exhausting our natural resources.
With a texture like handmade Japanese paper and subtle shading, WASARA’s flowing forms elevates disposable tableware into a thing of beauty. “It is our wish that WASARA may color the global food scene, finding a home amongst the many food cultures, with countless interpretations for its use,” the company says.
