Brazil-based practice Vapor Arquitetura oversees the transformation of Casa Branca into a home that fits the lifestyle of its inhabitants. Located in Sao Paulo’s Paraiso neighborhood, the studio had to preserve the existing façade and typology of the original home to conform to the area’s architectural standards.
Within the original frame of Casa Branca, the studio designed a light-filled dwelling that had access to its existing outdoor spaces. New openings were inserted into the front and back façades, strategically surrounded by greenery to protect the privacy of its residents. The front yard leads to the living, kitchen and dining areas which spills over into an interior courtyard.
The private spaces are located on the second floor, along with a roomy outdoor terrace that can be accessed from both the upper and lower levels, the latter via a metal staircase installed at the end of a lateral garden.
White walls and brick, dark wood flooring, exposed concrete beams and coloured tiles make up the material palette of Casa Branca. Artwork, furniture and decor reflect the lifestyle and tastes of its owners, infusing the home with personality and charm, color and character… a joy of a home, no doubt, to retire to at the end of the day.
