The Valiant House was renovated and transformed by A for Architecture from a weatherboard workers cottage to the stunning Melbourne, Australia family home it is today.

The architects preserved the front part of the home, but extended the rear part to create an open-plan living room. Fitted with floor to ceiling windows, this new space opens up to uninterrupted views of the garden. The use of concrete, brick and timber for the interior lends a loft-like aesthetic, accentuated by pops of color and a dramatic geometric pattern painted directly on the brick wall. Wide rooms, high ceilings, mirror and skylights lend the illusion of space.

A for Architecture is headed by Anna Rozen.
