No, this isn’t a UFO discovered in the northern Italian countryside, but yes, it sure looks like one. Believe it or not, this mountain chalet was constructed in 1973 by the late Josef Lackner, a renovated project that was seen to its fruition by architect Stefan Hitthaler.
Simply named UFO, this strange-looking cabin lives up to its name with its out-of-this-world architecture. Suspended on 6 pillars, the home juts out of the snowy landscape in all its diamond-shaped facade glory. Access is through a steel ladder which disappears into the left sidewall, and once inside we see how Hitthaler incorporated symmetry in the entire home: the structure at the front of the main room has two large beds on either side, and two smaller beds are nestled on either side of the fireplace and the kitchen.
