Swedish photographer Emma Hartvig documents the Los Angeles-based professional synchronised swimmer group The Aqualillies in her latest series, The Swimmers. Shot during their rehearsals, the arresting images reveal the hard work, precision and diligence that goes into the engaging, poetic performance. Instead of capturing just perfectly symmetric portraits, Hartvig offers us a glimpse behind the scenes, catching swimmers in preparation for their next move.
