With subway stations like these, who needs cars? Conor MacNeill takes us on a tour of the ‘world’s longest art gallery’, the Stockholm metro or tunnelbana, through a series of photos that perfectly capture the underground rail system’s grandiosity. More than 90 percent of the 100 metro stops are decorated with sculptures, mosaics or reliefs, with over 15o artists pitching in to make the Stockholm metro a visually memorable experience to its daily commuters. If you’re lucky, your stop may just be one of those stations where the ceilings display exposed bedrock. Their metro system also shows the world that the Swedes aren’t afraid of color: reds, greens, blues and even rainbow colors are used in various stations. I guess the Swedes have once again proven that when it comes to design, they can almost do no wrong…
