It is unusual to hear of a property with a famous face but such was the angular entrance of this Houston home that it gained the nickname ‘the Darth Vader House’ and became overnight internet famous as it recently hit the market with Sotheby’s real estate. Bearing an only slightly ominous resemblance to the mask of Star Wars’ Darth Vader, the home was built in 1992 and was in fact an example of the type of architectural folly that only true fandom can inspire. Created by architect Lynn Swisher Spears, the home was designed from a concept initially drawn by the client on paper that was undoubtedly the result of an obsessive appreciation for Star Wars.
Besides the unique entrance – that faces out towards an intersection, so can’t be missed – the four-bedroom, five bath home is an epic, contemporary building whose retro futuristic exterior gives way to more familiar luxury interiors. Available for just $4.3million via Sotheby’s Realty.
