Located at the edge of Heverlee Forest and Meerdaal Woods in Belgium, MUD Residence is the result of a collaboration between interior architect Andy Kerstens and founders Sophie and Frank De Jonghe to transform a 1960s villa into a contemporary guesthouse catered to leisure, creative and social pursuits.
“Following our own motto of “dream, believe, do, repeat”, we are turning our philosophy into a residence for people to share meaningful moments, to take a moment for themselves to share their creativity with others,” says Sophie and Frank. With two rooms, an outdoor terrace, a separate creative studio, and a bio sauna, the multi-purpose boutique guesthouse suits varied needs and events. More than just a romantic getaway or a venue for social events, MUD also becomes a hub for creative activities such as a photoshoots, meetings, workshops, podcast recordings, personal training sessions, or as a personal exposition space.
The original interiors were broken down to create a blank canvas where modern lines, open spaces and natural light were worked into the new layout.
Natural materials are emphasised throughout the home, and a new extension connects visitors to views of the property’s lush gardens.
