It seems like Greece can do no wrong when it comes to fabulous hotel openings, so here’s the newest one that caught our radar: the Theros All-Suite Hotel is a newly-built hotel in Kos that fully embraces concepts of slow living, holistic sojourns, and hospitality at its finest. Designed by Mastrominas ARChitecture, the hotel’s architecture references the medieval castle of Kos, along with elements of the island’s rural settlements.
Though built on a narrow plot, the flow of the hotel evades any hint of crampedness. The main building, bookmarked by outdoor lounge areas, is a breezy, open volume that hosts the reception, lobby, bar and restaurant. From here, visitors walk past the communal swimming pool to access any of the 47 suites, which are arranged along the edges of the property, facing inward. Ground-floor suites are fronted by private patios and plunge pools; upper-floor suites come with roomy verandas with hammocks and rooftop gardens.
Conscious of its environmental footprint, the studio integrated modern building technologies that aim at sustainability and environmental ethics. Olive trees, palms cypress and lemon trees that dot the property were chosen not just for their Mediterranean roots but also for their minimal water requirements. Constructed using traditional material palettes and comfortably furnished with contemporary elements, this quaint getaway is a destination worth exploring the next time you’re in the area.
