It seems that animals in haute couture parade the streets of Paris late at night, and Julien Nonnon has photos to prove it! Nonnon’s art interacts with architecture and urban surroundings, which is why his project, Safari Urbain, offers not just glimpses of his creativity, but also stunning photos Parisian streets as well.
The French artist projects his well-dressed animals onto building facades and takes photos of them for documentation. His animals, all dressed to the nines, are meant to question how social influences lead to conformity, highlighting our “ambivalent desire to be both unique and wanting to belong to a well-defined group.” Lasting only as long as it takes to snap a photo of each projection, Safari Urbain also drives home Nonnon’s point that fashion, like light projections that disappear when the sun comes up, is nothing but fleeting.
