Issiyana Suhaimi embroiders bonnets and scarves onto paper

Singaporean Issiyana Suhaimi bundles up her fashionable watercolor illustrations with warm and fuzzy accessories. The illustrator embroiders scarves, bonnets, collars or earmuffs onto paper in her series Friends to Keep You Warm.  The colorful threads add a bright pop of color to contrast the pale watercolors she uses to tint her line drawings. Suhaimi regularly incorporates embroidery into her work, a task she finds quiet and still. “I enjoy the duality of embroidery, in its movements of stabbing, cutting, covering, building, repairing, taking apart. Each stitch made seems to unfurled a story and withhold it at the same time.”  Visit her website to see more of her works.
