Recently celebrating its 20th anniversary, Danish design brand, HAY, teamed up with Herman Miller to reinterpret a range of Eames products to honor the occasion. Rolf and Mette, the partners behind HAY, updated a collection of chairs, clothes hooks, and tables to add a touch of contemporary spirit to already timeless designs. While signature HAY colors are evident, less obvious is the updated materials seen in the likes of the Eames Molded Plastic Chair, which has been recast in 100% post-industrial recycled plastic.
Both Mette and Rolf were firm disciples of the Eames’ work and their collaborative spirit, which fed into the project in various ways. Included in the collection is the Eames Compact Sofa in a playful yellow and green stripe, an emerald green rendering of the Molded Plywood Chair, and the Wire Base Low Tables, which look so Hay in their new colors you’d be forgiven for thinking they were completely original designs.
