Portugal-based architecture firm, ARTSPAZIOS, created this project in their hometown for a family in need of a habitat that split indoor and outdoor living to suit their needs. The home is carved into a lot, burrowing down to create a sunken driveway with parking and storage to supplement the largely single-level living space that sits above. Created from a series of overlaid volumes of concrete, the home is dotted with ambiguously defined spaces that sooth the blocky nature of the materials. Double height rooms, large floor to ceiling windows, and interconnecting terraces add a sense of lightness to the raw concrete that runs exposed throughout.
Beyond its interior, the home’s expanse of covered terrace space encourages the outdoor lifestyle that the clients desired, with a narrow lap pool completing a serene, private oasis with green views from one aspect.
