Belfast-born Darren Dunwell may be in the marketing profession, but from his spectacular images of his travels through China, a career change to photography wouldn’t be far-fetched.
In his series The Middle Kingdom, Dunwell takes us along the 3000+ kilometre journey he made through China. Moving from north to south, his travelogue showcases an ever-changing landscape, one as drastically different from the next, each image a testament to how tradition and modernity co-exist. “China can seem like a foreign land to many, moreso now than ever,” he says. “However, with this series I hope to showcase the true beauty of this country, its people and their strongly embedded culture.”
From bustling cities to ancient towns, stately pagodas to serene river boat rides, Dunwell indulges us in armchair travel through this culturally unique and fascinating part of the world. Visit his Instagram for more.
